Workgroup Tutorial

This tutorial shows the basic steps in creating a Workgroup in the EnterpriseSCHEDULE Windows Client. The user setting up the Workgroup must have All Access and be able to work within the Syscontrol folder in the Job Explorer.

Note: It is highly recommended that you use the Workgroup Wizard to set up Workgroups in EnterpriseSCHEDULE. This tutorial is meant to help the advanced user set up a Workgroup manually. The steps in this tutorial are identical to those performed by the Workgroup Wizard.

Before setting up the Workgroup, the following factors should be considered for nodes to be used in the processing of jobs:

  1. Are the nodes in the work group available for job submissions during the periods of job activity?
  2. How do the nodes rate as far as power, memory, overall usage etc
  3. Are any of the nodes already used for other types of processes that would limit their ability to process jobs?
  4. Is the network communication reliable?
  5. Will the commands in the job run on all nodes?
  6. How will the failure of certain nodes affect the overall job scheduling activity in the workgroup

The Workgroup method of job submission has built in failover and recovery methods that can recover from network and server errors
