Using the Variable Wizard

The purpose of a variable is to add a level of programmability into jobs that go beyond prerequisites and initiates. Values can be evaluated within jobs to determine future job flow or be SET within a job to affect future evaluation. The values contained in variables can exist either in the database or as a local, temporary variable. The variables types are

Variable type

Description

String

Variable is a character string, integer or Boolean value. All values are evaluated as a STRING.

Expression

Variable expressions are evaluated when a job is submitted in order to obtain a value that is based on a calculated date, mathematical or string expression for more on Variables Expression, see Variable Expressions

EnterpriseSCHEDULE features a handy Variable Wizard that allows you to quickly and easily create a variable.

In order to start the EnterpriseSCHEDULE Variable Wizard:

Follow the instructions in the Variable Wizard. When you complete a step, click the Next button to advance to the next step. If you want to leave the Variable Wizard and not create the variable, click Cancel.
