Creating Prototype Jobs

EnterpriseSCHEDULE allows the customization of Job Properties pages and the Submit and Complete job dialog boxes. This allows the user to make any number of custom job templates that can easily be copied using the prototype feature. There are a number of advantages to these custom jobs:

  1. Allows the creation of jobs that are created for a specific purpose, benefitting the novice user who does not need to learn more advanced areas of the software.
  2. Limits the Job Properties dialog to only those items necessary for the creation and submission of the job.
  3. Allows user friendly fields that can be quickly filled in that are specific to that job.

The creation of these customized jobs is accomplished using an Options list that is entered into the notes section of a prototype job. A prototype job is any job that is named with the prefix "proto_" and that resides in the following hierarchical search path:

  1. The local directory that the from operation is being performed in.
  2. The root directory of the local user
  3. The system directory named default

The Options that are used to customize the dialogs are described in the following sections.
