1.5.1 Start time states
The situation will sometimes arise when it is necessary to determine
the jobs in a job set that are awaiting a next start time. If a job has
completed and will be automatically restarted at a future time, the
icon reflects job completion status and not the wait for next start
time status.
If the user is interested in which jobs are in the wait for next start
time(B) queue it may be manually updated by selecting Start
time states from the Display menu on the job
group window. This updates all completed job icons that are currently
in the wait for next start time queue.
1.5.1.1 Submitting new/same set
Job sets may be submitted manually using either the same job set number as was previously used or a new job set number. This feature puts the user in complete control of job set numbering if there is a necessity to keep track of this information.
The Submit new set and Submit same set selections are both made from the job action menu. The job action menu is activated when a user clicks on a job in a job group window using mouse button #3 (usually the right mouse button). The job that was selected will then be submitted using the selected method.
The Submit new set selection submits the selected job in a new job set using the next available job set number. This is performed by selecting Submit new set from the Job action menu. The selected job will be submitted with the new job set number.
The Submit same set selection submits the selected job in the same job
set as was previously used. This is performed by selecting
Submit same set from the Job action
menu. The selected job will be submitted with the previously used job
set number.
1.6 MOTIF Interface basics
The MOTIF interface used by the MOTIF Editor/Monitor utilizes a number
of conventions that occur throughout the program. These conventions
should be understood before using the MOTIF Editor/Monitor. These
conventions are described below.
1.6.1 Pull down menus
The pull down menu is one of the most common interface tools in all graphical user interfaces. The MOTIF Editor/Monitor uses menu bars for both the Command Center and the Job Group window. Selecting an item in a pull down menu involves first clicking on the menu in the menu bar, holding down the mouse button, dragging the cursor to the desired menu item and releasing the button. The steps are illustrated in Figure 1-14.

Dialog boxes in the MOTIF Editor/Monitor use a common convention for accepting or cancelling the input into the form. Most users familiar with graphical user interfaces will be aquainted with this standard.
Figure 1-15 illustrates a typical dialog box button selection scheme.

The buttons are used as follows:
