Modify a directory's properties (modify/directory or chdir)

The MODIFY command can be used to change the owner UIC code or the protection level of a given directory.

Windows/OpenVMS Format:

modify/directory directory_name /qualifier=value

UNIX/Linux Format:

chdir directory_name -qualifier=value

Qualifier Summary

/[no]acl or -[no]acl

/owner or -owner

/protection or -protection

/[no]log or -[no]log

/[no]confirm or -[no]confirm

/node or -node = target_node

Examples

Windows:

Schedule> modify/directory \mmidani\ /protection=g:rwed

OpenVMS:

Schedule> modify/directory [mmidani] /protection=g:rwed

Windows:

Schedule> chdir /mmidani/ -protection=g:rwed

Qualifiers


/[no]confirm or -[no]confirm

CONFIRM requests that the user be prompted prior to any operation to verify that the selected entry is the correct one.

/hostname or -node =hostname

The qualifier specifies what node (either local or remote) you want the operation performed on.

/[no]log or -[no]log

The LOG qualifier causes each completed operation to issue a note to the user.

/owner or -owner=uic

The OWNER qualifier specifies the owner UID/GID code for the directory.

/protection or -protection=(s:rwedc,o:rwedc,g:rwedc, w:rwedc)

The PROTECTION qualifier specifies the UIC based access rights for the file.
