Job alerts and job specific notifications share some similarities but differ in that Alerts are part of the Windows client and therefore appear only when the client is active. Notifications are attached to a particular job and send a message either by e-mail or pop up during certain events of that job. Care should be taken when configuring Alerts and notifications to avoid overreporting of job activity. Both systems can be turned on and off based on events and or job activity.
