Prompt mode vs. Command mode

EnterpriseSCHEDULE commands may be entered in one of two modes:

Prompt mode

In prompt mode commands may be entered at a prompt without the SCHEDULE keyword proceeding the command. The EnterpriseSCHEDULE Windows Client automatically enters prompt mode when invoked (File > New > Command or CTRL-E). To enter prompt mode in your native environment, enter "schedule" at the Windows DOS prompt, the OpenVMS DCL prompt or the UNIX/Linux shell. For example, the directory command would be entered as:

Windows/OpenVMS:

schedule

Schedule> directory

UNIX/Linux:

schedule

Schedule> lsjob

Command mode

Commands are entered from the standard prompt (DOS prompt for Windows, DCL prompt for OpenVMS, Shell prompt for UNIX/Linux) and include the SCHEDULE keyword. For example, the directory command would be entered as:

Windows/OpenVMS:

schedule directory

UNIX/Linux:

schedule lsjob

Most examples in this help resource use the prompt mode example.
